An Afternoon of Crafting and Wine

September brings a changing of the seasons. We are already feeling it with a shift to cooler fall type weather. Suddenly we’re craving pumpkin spice coffee, Halloween movies and flannel pajamas. It’s also a great time to slow down and enjoy a crafting project in a casual setting with great company. Saturday, September 12th, we’re hosting exactly the excuse you need.
Join us for Wine & Design: an afternoon workshop where you’ll create your own harvest broom or fall wreath (or both, if you’re feeling ambitious). Laura Gifford Kerr, floral designer at Gifford’s Flowers, will guide you through the whole process. You’ll start with a base of your choosing—a harvest broom or grapevine wreath—then layer it with seasonal decor items, dried stems, ribbons, and natural touches. Every piece is your own custom creation.
This isn’t just about making something festive, but it is that too. It’s about gathering with people who love the season, enjoying an afternoon in the winery setting and letting your creativity take charge. Plus, you will take home a handmade creation that brings fall warmth or spooky vibes, depending on which way you lean.
Event Details: 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Hip Chicks Do Wine (4510 SE 23rd Avenue). Here’s what’s included:
Your choice of a hand-decorated broom ($80) or wreath ($95)—or make both for $160. All materials, instruction, and one glass of wine, sangria, beer, or a non-alcoholic beverage are included. You’ll also get a 10% discount on bottles of wine to take home. Additional wine and food are available for purchase if you want to stay longer.
This is the time of year that feels like it’s made for an urban escape. Whether you’re drawn to flowers, the warm tones of autumn or the spook of the season, there’s room for all here.
Advance tickets are required. You can grab yours at hipchicksdowine.com.
